About Us

Bars Barriers and Beyond Inc is a community organisation committed to supporting women who have experienced significant barriers and disadvantage. We believe that no woman should be defined by her past or the circumstances she has faced. Whether those barriers include homelessness, incarceration, substance use, domestic and family violence, social exclusion, unemployment or other life challenges, we believe every woman deserves dignity, opportunity and the chance to build a safer and more independent future.

 

Our organisation provides practical support, connection and pathways to help women move beyond the barriers they face. Through advocacy, service navigation, referrals, community connection, peer support and future employment and education opportunities, we aim to walk alongside women as they rebuild their lives and work towards their goals.

A key part of our vision is Beyond the Bars, a future program designed to support women approaching release from custody as they prepare to return to the community. We recognise that leaving prison can bring significant challenges, including finding housing, reconnecting with family, accessing services, securing employment and overcoming stigma. Our goal is to help women prepare for release and connect them with practical support and opportunities that can assist them to build a positive future.

At Bars Barriers and Beyond, we believe in second chances, lived experience, empowerment and the strength of community. We are here to break down barriers, build pathways and support women to move beyond their past towards a future filled with possibility.
